Description
Image of C.R. Klein of Santa Monica aiming a swordfish gun on a tripod in Santa Monica, California. The Deauville Club and the Georgian Hotel can be seen in the distance on the coast at left and the La Monica ballroom on the Santa Monica Pier can be seen at right.
Title and date devised by cataloger based on information on envelope in which negative was received: "Santa Monica, Klein & sword fish gun, 1933." A similar image of Klein was published in the Clovis, New Mexico, News-Journal, October 23, 1934, page 7, with the caption: "C.R. Klein of Santa Monica, Cal., exhibits the new weapon he invented for shooting swordfish and firing life lines to persons on boats by lifeguards. It operates on air pressure, and shoots a line 150 yards." Klein is also seen in photCL_555_06_1472.
