Photograph caption dated May 19, 1985 reads, "Police and paramedics have their hands full treating dozens of people injured when an RTD bus and a U.S. Postal Service truck collided and both ran through a fence in a Skid Row area Friday. A 4-year-old was critically injured and his 25-year-old pregnant mother also was injured but in stable condition. Neither driver was seriously hurt, but 33 people were taken to six hospitals with minor injuries. Although witnesses say the postal truck ran a stop sign on Gladys Avenue at Fifth Street and ran into the bus, police have yet to determine the cause of the collision. It was the second accident in about 24 hours involving an RTD bus. A chain-reaction mishap in Commerce Thursday involved 47 passengers."
