At center, Engine 38, decorated with banners, can be seen at the recreation of the driving of the final spike on Southern Pacific's Los Angeles-San Francisco line at Lang Station. Engine 38 sits on the tracks at the center of the image, with the first two cars of its train visible behind it. Several men stand on the tracks to the left of the train, looking toward the engine.
