Description
This image features woven works created by the San Diego fiber artist Eve Gulick (1907 - 2000) and is one of a series of interior installation views documenting the exhibition “Eve Gulick — Three Decades of Weaves and Innovations,” organized by Mingei International Museum of World Folk Art that took place April 17-June 27, 1982. The exhibition was accompanied by a 37-page publication written by the Museum’s Director and exhibition co-curator, Martha Longenecker (tenure, 1974 – 2005). The Museum hosted a concurrent exhibition, “Laura Andreson — A Fifty-Year Retrospective in Clay” that included more than 350 ceramics works by the artist Laura Andreson. Eve Gulick’s weavings, characterized by inventive design structure and the use of organic materials interlocked with fiber, are visible hanging above or beside the display cases containing Laura Andreson’s work.
