Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1889-1989 Just as Chick Hearn established himself as the voice of the Lakers and Vin Scully became the voice of the Dodgers, Bob Miller (right, with Dan Avey) is the voice of the Kings. He joined the team in 1973; in 31 years, through ownership and partner changes, he has broadcast over 2,500 Kings games (regular-,pre-, and post-season) in his Hall of Fame career. His call of Wayne Gretzky breaking Gordie Howe's all-time points record was typically Millerian: succinct, informative, and professional. "Wayne Gretzky--the Great One--has become the greatest of them all--the all-time leading scorer in the history of the National Hockey League." Photo dated: March 17, 1975.
