Photograph caption dated October 12, 1928 reads, “’Frank’ led the orchestra at the first Los Angeles Orpheum, the historic Grand Opera house…It still stands on Main street.” Additional photograph caption dated December 7, 1929 reads, “ Los Angeles’ first Orpheum opened on New Year’s eve, 1894 is what had been Child’s Grand Opera house on Main street near First. This picture shows the entrance through which society paraded that memorable night to see ‘Honey Boy’ Evans and Don Juan Cacedo, ‘King of the wire.’ Now it’s a dime movie house.”
