This July 11, 1935, photograph reveals the north side of the Hotel Sacramento as it runs along K Street. Occupying its first floor, and moving left to right, are Margaret Burnham's Cottage Candies, Salzman Furs, Mason's Men's Shop, Grebitus Jewelers and Auslender's Women's Company. The hotel's arrival in Sacramento was awe inspiring to most citizens. The November 16, 1908, Sacramento Bee describes the giddy curiosity in the following words: The building as it stands today is something entirely new to Sacramentans and every Sunday, when it is safe to inspect the place, hundreds of visitors walk in between the massive columns and gaze about.""
