Smashing waves which battered the beaches and caused considerable damage on December 27, 1940, reached a new crest of fury and crashed two more buildings at Redondo Beach and threatened to topple additional structures on Redondo's concrete strand. The arrows in this photo of a section of the strand show the latest victims of the raging sea, which tumbled this day under the powerful pounding. At lower left, marked by a cross, is a family gathering its house furniture and preparing to evacuate.
