This is a photograph of Fr. George D. Haggerty standing at the altar in a church as he preaches to a large congregation. He is wearing a white cassock, there are candles lit behind him on the altar and a statue is located at either side of him at the altar. Born in New York, Fr. Haggerty came to Maryknoll in 1927 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1934. He was assigned to Fushun, Manchuria that same year and returned on the SS Gripsholm in 1942. He returned to Manchuria in 1945 and spent years in Shanghai, Seattle, Taiwan and Africa.
