Description
A light-haired young woman wears an outfit in Princeton University's colors of orange and black. She sits on a green bench on a lawn, with deep orange tiger lilies growing next to the bench. In the distance are the neo-gothic buildings of Princeton University with trees turning autumn gold, and the bottom of the plate reads "Princeton." She wears an orange and black striped long-sleeved jacket with wide lapels and a coordinating striped long skirt. (These colors were adopted by Princeton in the 1890s.) Her blouse is cream with bias tattersal plaid in medium blue. The blouse is full and gathered to form the "pouter pigeon" silhouette, and has a high stiff white collar in the masculine style, with a black bow tie. She wears a narrow black belt, tan gloves, and a straw hat trimmed with black bows and feathers, and orange ribbons. Appropriate to her collegiate setting, she holds a book and has a contemplative expression. To show her femininity she has a bouquet of tiger lilies resting on the bench next to her.
