Description
Shown on January 26, 1910, are the ornate altar and apse of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, located at 1017 Eleventh Street. Opened in 1889, the structure took three years to build. Its June 30, 1889 dedication included eighth separate masses, the first at 5:00 am and all officiated by the Right Reverend Bishop Patrick Manogue, an Irishman whose first California experience was as a 49er at Moore's Flat.
