Description
Photograph of a destroyed British-made Mark IV tank with German insignia at the Front in France, ca.1919. The tank is stuck on a steep hill, with the front left side in the air. The track on the right side has been destroyed, and parts of it are sticking off the body of the metal vehicle. A black German cross emblem is painted near the front of the tank, but the faded emblem of the captured tank's original owners--the British--is visible just in front of the cross. The ground on which the tank is stuck appears to be sandy, and there is barbed wire all around. The ground is covered in low shrubs in the distance.
