Description
Laurie Wilson discusses her book, “Alberto Giacometti.” She begins by explaining the early life of the Surrealist sculptor Alberto Giacometti. She talks about how the artist grew up in Switzerland, and decided to become an artist because his father was a painter. She describes how he moved to Paris in the 1920s and met other famous artists such as Max Ernst, Andre Breton, and writer Jean-Paul Sartre. She talks about the affects of World War II on Giacometti’s artwork. Wilson talks about her own life as an artist, and how he influenced her artwork. She ends the interview by describing how she got to meet Giacometti’s brother, who gave her a lot of information about their early lives together.
