Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated June 16, 1962 reads, "And 655,000 children at Los Angeles' public schools had happy looks today. When the 12:25 p.m. bell rang, children let out with a 'yippee, no more school' and got ready to spend a summer of freedom until the bell rings again next September. The scene was the same all over Los Angeles. Those shown here are hooraying it out the front door of Lankershim School, 5250 Bakman Ave., North Hollywood. What's ahead until fall? For many it's a summer of work. Some will travel. Or play. But for most everyone it's a pencil-less, book-less, teacher-less wonderful time of year."
