Description
Image of an elevated landscape view of the city of Toledo, Ohio, showing pedestrians and sheep on a hillside in the immediate foreground, with a dirt road, horse-drawn vehicles, commercial properties, a bridge, and boats on the Maumee River behind, and the cityscape across the water into the distance; the bridge has a sign at its entrance that reads, "$5.00 fine for driving faster than a walk"; with a bottom border panel containing seven vignettes of eye-level views of the front facades of the "Oliver House," "Trinity Church," Post Office," "Court House," "High School," "Sisters of Charity," and the "Oprhans Asylum," and a top border panel containing seven vignettes of the front facades of "St. Patrick's Academy," "American House," "Mr. Baker's Residence," "Peter Lenks Brewery," "Mr. Deveau's Residence," "Bethel Church," and "A. Stephan's Brewery."
Single-color print; title transcribed from printed title information accompanying item. "Sketched & Drawn On Stone By August Schoen"--text, bottom left margin. "Entered According To Act of Congress in 1866 by August Schoen in the Clerks Office of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio"--text, bottom center margin.
