Description
Image of a jugate featuring bust-length portraits of United States presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln framed by the goddess Columbia and six historical vignettes; Columbia stands with flags, a sleeping lion and a bald eagle, cannons, and open manacles with chain; vignettes feature the Boston Tea Party "December 18 [sic], 1773," the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, British General Charles Cornwallis surrendering to American forces at the end of the Revolutionary War on October 19, 1781, the beginning of the American Civil War on April 19, 1861, a naval battle scene, and a celebration of the Union victory on April 6, 1865.
