Description
Republican mural, Beechmount Avenue, West Belfast, 1983. Mural, 'sponsored by An Phoblacht/Republican News' (Sinn Féin newspaper), depicts woman (?) enveloped in Tricolour, and political activists campaigning 'For A New Ireland', 'Youth, Culture, Housing, Brits Out, Jobs, Education for All'; part of the 1983 Sinn Fein General Election campaign - 'Vote Sinn Féin'. Streetname - Beechmount Avenue, has been changed to 'RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) Avenue. In this picture the mural is unfinished (see top).
