2012-1301.
Born in 1835 in Amherst, Massachusetts, George Fiske came to California around 1858. Worked a variety of occupations (clerk, farmer) before becoming photographer, settling in San Francisco. Eventually set up home and studio in the Yosemite Valley, living there year round. Married, first, Elmira F. Morrill, then later, Caroline Paull. He died in 1918.
