In May 1852, Alanzo Ridley and David McKenzie arrived to trade with the Indians. The extract mentions the label of Mission Indians--Native americans who lived under Spanish Mexicans. Mentions Beale first visited the valley in August or September of 1853 for the purpose of selecting a reservation for the Indians.
