Description
Note: Als Nr. 34 publiziert im Album 'Achtzig Ansichten von der Goldküste (Westafrika) nach Originalaufnahmen des Missionars Fritz Ramseyer', Neuenburg 1895.
Note translation: Published as no 34 in the album 'Achtzig Ansichten von der Goldküste (Westafrika) nach Originalaufnahmen des Missionars Fritz Ramseyer', (= 'Eighty pictures of the Goldcoast (West Africa) by the missionary Fritz Ramseyer'), Neuchâtel 1895. - Caption in the album: "Ferry crossing the Berem (Akem). - This river, a tributary of the Prah, is very deep in places. The natives have built a remarkable ferry in order to cross it. It is a raft with three thick branches standing up, behind which a creeper runs. The creeper is fastened on both banks. Using the current the people can pull the raft from one bank to the other with little difficulty."
