Description
Photograph of the mouth of Black Jack Mine on Black Jack Mountain on Santa Catalina Island, showing eight miners, October 16, 1935. Three miners stand over a mine cart full of minerals at center. A fourth miner leans against the man-made wall of dirt at left with glasses, a pipe in his mouth, and several wooden beams leaning next to him. A hand-written, wooden sign above the mine's entrance reads "Black-Jack Mine". Four more men, one in a suit and the rest in work clothes, stand above the men on a steep, dusty hill. Weeds grow wild around spiny trees on the hill in the background.
