Description
Two women are standing in an elegant room. The woman on the left is wearing a blue dress over a pink blouse. The blouse has a gathered front and a high collar with a with a white lace ruff at the neck. She wears a gold cameo with a pendant pinned to the collar. The bodice has a deep blue brocade bolero top section and gathered puff oversleeves. The undersleeves are plain blue with brocade sections at the wrists, and white lace ruffles at the wrists. The lower section of the bodice is deep blue velvet, pleated into an asymmetrical closing with three buttons. Her skirt is bell shaped with an overskirt of plain blue, decorated at the scalloped hem with brocade at the hem and up on each side at the front in two inverted v's. Below that is a band of deep blue velvet. She wears white gloves and holds a lorgnette. Her hat is flat brimmed with a straight sided crown of blue, with blue velvet on the edge of the brim and on the crown. It is decorated with dark blue bows and pink feather plumes. The woman on the right is wearing a light gold high-collared long sleeved dress. The under section of the bodice is of pink and blue flowered fabric. This section includes the upper sleeves, the upper section of the bodice, and the collar. A lace ruffle finishes the neck. Over that is the gold section which is asymmetrically pleated into three pleats with gold buttons. Pleating that echoes this creates the top section of each sleeve, and three small pleats with small buttons and a white lace ruffle finish each wrist. A large rose pink bow perches at her right shoulder, and a matching rose pink sash curcles her waist. Her bell shaped skirt has three pleats at the left front, ending with three buttons on each pleat at the hem. She is wearing a soft rose pink hat, of the flowered and rose pink fabrics, with a white plume at the front. She wears white gloves. In the parlor behind the women is a table, a striped side chair, a folding screen, ornamental palms, and a window with draperies.
