Caption dated July 1, 1950 reads, "Rev. Edward N. Spirer, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 11031 Camarillo St., North Hollywood does double duty in serving his parishioners. Here he is shown in chef's cap when he cooked steaks for nearly 2000 at a recent church banquet. There was no charge and steaks were tops. With him is Mrs. Spirer, an active worker in the Christian field."
