Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1889-1989
Seabiscuit, with owner Howard, poses next to a life-sized bronze statue of him, erected in his honor in the paddock gardens at Santa Anita Park. The West Coast-based 'Biscuit' raced often at the Arcadia track; his final race was a victory in the 1940 Santa Anita Handicap (known as the "Big Cap"). He died in 1947.
