Description
Black and white photograph showing the first dispensary operated by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society at Ama Achara, Nigeria. A group of three European missionaries and Nigerian men, women and children pose in the shade of the roof of a mud and thatch building. The caption on the reverse of the photograph reads: "First Dispensary at Ama Achara 1923. L to R. Rev. J.H Slater, Mary Anderson. E. Godfrey - L. Leggett." This image comes from a photograph collection kept by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Methodist Hospital at Ama Achara from 1921 to 1944.
