Description
A boy holding an ear of corn to his mouth.
Title transcribed from item. Signed on mount: "© Frederick Monsen." Monsen's typed label on back says: "Hopiland. Arizona. The photograph shows a Hopi baby about three years old. During the late summer and fall the children are fat and happy because the crops have matured and the peaches are ripe. It is another story in the winter when food is scarce. If an Indian baby survives its first year, it stands a good chance of reaching maturity. It is the first year that counts."
