Description
1989-1343. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. D, leaf 5. Street car tracks lead into photo showing broad street with commercial buildings on both sides; on left a low one-story building has "Bode" written on side and large window in front; further down street is large 3 story building with another following it & then dense area of leafless trees lead into distance; on right side is two story building with "Frank's Drink Shop" on awning & another sign above perpendicular to structure; arched windows on its second floor. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "'Bode & Bod', Keys... left. Erected in 1924. Telephone Bldg, left, tall bldg. erected in 1910." Businesses include: Sacramento Frank's Drink Shop, meat market, hotel.
