2008-1654 PHOTO: ADVERTISEMENTS" WEINSTOCK LUBIN & CO. Shows street, sidewalk and fence. Fence painted with series of advertisements - Greater Novelty Theatre (vaudeville); Silver Brand Collars; Corona Lithia water, The Johnson Locke Mercantile Co.; Weinstock Lubin & Co. (Varney & Green), the Silk House; Blarney Tweeds, Kelleher & Browne, the Irish Tailors. Behind the fence, the dome of City Hall in partial ruin. "H.S. Hoyt" - stamped on back. Possibly commissioned by Varney & Green to document their signs. Company was owned by Jacob Charles Green and Thomas H.B. Varney between 1904 and 1908. Firm did outdoor advertising, bill posting, painted signs, street cars, railroad bulletins, fence advertising. Operated in San Francisco Bay Area, San Jose, Los Angeles and various small towns in California.
