Description
Life goes on for this family of lucky ducks that survived the Topanga Canyon fire. Waddling along nonchalantly as though nothing unusual had happened, these six ducks are among the bird and animal survivors of the disastrous fire that struck Topanga Canyon. They walk (and in formation, too!) past their owner, Joseph H. Ward, and his dog, who also came out of the inferno safely. Ward's home was destroyed. Photograph dated November 5, 1948.
