Description
Annotation translation: "Village school, with the sons of cannibals from Minge. On the left Teacher Tikö, now an evangelist, on the right Mukum, a former evangelist. A few years ago there was still no school in the Minge valley, and the parents of these children were all cannibals. Nowadays many of them allow their children to attend the christian school. Unfortunately they do not all get the money from their parents to buy a slate, a schoolbook, and a slate-pencil. Many of them only have a piece of broken slate as large as a hand, and the stump of a slate-pencil about 3 cm long. But they are keen to learn, and many get on very well with reading, writing and arithmetic." - "HB [Heidenbote] 1941/3."
- "HB [Heidenbote] 1941/3."
Stamped: "Museum der Basler Mission, Basel, Missionsstrasse 21."
