Description
Gregory Yale (1816-1871) came to California in 1850 from Florida and practiced law in San Francisco. He specialized, among other fields, in maritime law, especially as it concerned the piloting of ships in San Francisco Bay. He also worked on land grant disputes, especially in regards to the holdings of Salvador Vallejo. He invested in various land developments, including South Park in San Francisco. He died in San Francisco in 1871.
Correspondence, legal papers, and lawsuits.
Yale collection found in same two archive boxes as Judge David Belden collection, intermixed somewhat. Possibly both collections had the same provenance.
