Description: View inside the auditorium-gymnasium at the Sherman Oaks-Van Nuys playground. This was the main headquarters for Civil Defense operations in the mock hydrogen and atomic bomb attack on the Los Angeles area. Civil Defense workers man their respective posts, keeping in contact with police, block wardens, radiological, health and various other departments. Photo dated: July 20, 1956.
