Mary Pickford was a Canadian-born silent film actress, famously known as "America's sweetheart," co-founder of American Artists film studio, and one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
First photograph caption dated July 22, 1932, reads "Filmland notables attending pre-Olympic horsemanship events will see an international equestrian review at the Riviera Country club on Sunday. Photo, taken at the field, shows Mary Pickford, in foreground, introducing her pet dog to 'Spanky' Macfarlane [sic], a baby star.
