A set of ethnographic portraits of Omaha Indians made at the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris in 1883. Prince Roland Bonaparte, a trained ethnographer, had the photographs made and compiled information on each of the individuals. Seventeen sitters are shown in front and side views and there is a group portrait of all the participants at the end of the portfolio. The photographer is unidentified. The front cover is embossed "No. 41." The plates are mounted 9 x 7 in. albumen photographs of native Americans, blindstamped with photographers name in corner. Series statement at head of cover title and at foot of each plate. Three other copies of this portfolio are known to exist in the United States at the Beinecke Library, Denver Public Library, and the Smithsonian Institution.
