Description
Mary Yukari Waters discusses her book, “The Laws of Evening.” She begins by explaining that her book is a compilation of short stories about Japan before the attacks on Pearl Harbor. She talks about how she immigrated to the United States from Japan at the age of 8. She describes how she goes back to Japan every year to visit her grandma who is still living there. Martinson asks Waters to read a passage from her book about a mother and daughter who travel together. She talks about how she didn’t take her first writing class until the age of 30. She ends the interview by discussing how she found an agent and publisher, and that she is working on a full novel.
