She was president of the Los Angeles Civil Service Commission from 1953-1960, and the first female postmaster in Van Nuys, serving from 1960-1972. She died in 1991. Photograph caption dated August 22, 1957 reads "Mrs. Kay Bogendorfer, seated, has been re-elected as president of Los Angeles' Civil Service Commission on which she has served since 1953. Shown with her are, from left, Mario L. Clinco, Eva Terpsten and Harold R. Billings, new Valley resident appointed to commission."
