Guests at the dedication of the 60-inch telescope, Palomar Observatory. The telescope (seen in the upper right-hand corner) and the guests are in the Oscar G. Mayer memorial building. (left to right): Paul Scherer, Art Hoag, Bruce Rule, Lee Dubridge, Maarten Schmidt, (unidentified), and Mrs. Rule. The men are wearing suits; the women are wearing dresses. Several unoccupied chairs are seen among the guests.
