Description
Chart reads: "Los Angeles County Total Relief Load". From 1924 to 1929, public assistance cases were below 10,000 per year. From 1930, the cases spike with 1935 almost off the chart at 170,000, highlighting the effects of the Great Depression. Cases tracked were for Bureau of County Welfare, Problem; Bureau of County Welfare, Unemployment; Civil Works Administration; L.A. County Relief Administration, Work; L.A. County Relief Administration, Direct.
