The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated June 18, 1965 reads, "Traditional - Leading the customary academic procession at Pierce College commencement ceremonies yesterday were, from right, Lindsay Boggess, professor of animal science, John B. Shepard, college president, and California State College chancellor Glenn S. Dumke, who delivered the major address."; See image #00135844 for additional photo in this series.
