Description
View of the front dirt driveway, plants, and young orange trees before a house presumably in Los Angeles, California.
"Proof. [illegible] [Julia?]" and "Shows the true size of century plants - [?] the N.W. side of house & the fence beyond the [?] on the S. East. Also the plants we are [starting?] in the 1st line of oranges- a sort of second [?]- the second one on right is a cactus of the sort they make paper from. Someone brought it from Mojave Desert and the 'pockets' for irrigation [?]--text, handwritten on verso. "Photographed and Published by A.C. Varela, Los Angeles, Cal." printed on item. Title devised by cataloger; date devised by cataloger based on period when A.C. Varela was photographing in southern California (see Carl Mautz, Biographies of Western Photographers, 150).
