V1p385c -- v1p434a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 385 bottom, page 434 top. These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Same view on both pages shows President William McKinley visiting San Francisco and riding a carriage through Golden Gate Park with a number of dignitaries, flanked by two mounted policemen. Another carriage can be seen behind. Text written on both sides of photo at bottom of page 385: "May 1901. President William McKinnely [sic] in the Golden Gate Park. McKinnely seated beside Henry ['Charles' crossed out] Crocker driving coach in foreground. James D. Phelan then Mayor of San Francisco seated directly behind The President. The further coach is driven by Walter Hobart. Police officer Chris Aralennas is the mounted officer between the coaches. Officer James Kelly afterwards. Captain Kelly is in foreground, mounted. The then Chief of Police Wm. P. Sullivan is on the McKinnely coach his face showing over sholder [sic] of lady standing." Text written under photo at top of page 434 gives date as May 17, 1901, is otherwise almost identical to other caption. "Judge Van Fleet" written above photo at left. Another name has been erased and cannot be made out.
