Description
Photograph of a view of MacArthur Park showing the Westlake Theatre in the background, ca.1950. A large lake is visible at center, and several small boats can be seen on the calm water. A group of women is seated on a long park bench near the edge of the water. In the foreground, two couples sit and watch the boats. The lake is surrounded by an assortment of trees, including many palm trees. A two-story building can be seen on the edge of the lake in the background at center. The sign for the Westlake Theatre can be seen over the tops of the trees in the distance at center. The name of the park was changed from Westlake Park in 1945 in honor of General Douglas MacArthur.
