Description
Photograph of a view of the town of San Juan Capistrano looking south from the mission, ca.1900. Juan Abila Street can be seen at center, with Verdugo Street going down the hill to the right. The plaza can be seen filled up with modern buildings to the left. The adobe ruin to the left was the south end of the "cuartel" or barracks of the Spanish and Mexican soldiers stationed at the mission. The wall running to the right is that of the old mission vineyard. The portion of house to the extreme right is boarded over a portion of Pedro Verdugo's L-shaped adobe house. Rolling hills can be seen in the background. Legible signs include: "Store".
