Photograph caption dated September 12, 1956 reads, "Astronomer and family view Mars - George A. Carroll operates electrical controls for 6-inch telescope as his wife Charlotte takes a peek at Mars 35,000,000 miles away. Their daughter Emma Lou, 12, points to brilliant planet in sky.
