Photograph caption dated October 15, 1964 reads, "Guy Van Alstyne, left, president of the Icarian Flying Club, presents a check for $1,250 to Ted Sharp of the Soaring Society of America as Lloyd Licher, executive secretary of the SSA, second from right, and Matt Jacobson watch. The money was raised by the Icarian 'Soar to Victory' dance held at Van Nuys Skyways last month and will be used to sponsor this country's soaring team in international competition." Note: The Icarian Flying Club is a San Fernando Valley club.
