Phelan stading at speaker's podium and addressing convention. A woman, possibly a stenographer, is visible at the left. Text written under photo: "James D Phelan in attendance at Democratic National Nominating Convention New York City June 25, 1924, Senator Phelan placing William G. McAdoo's name before the convention for nomination for President. His speech was followed by a demonstration lasting 90 minutes or more." Photographer's credit printed on photo: "Underwood & Underwood."
