Description
Interior view of Los Angeles Union Station. This photo shows the tiled floors, travertine marble walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, large chandeliers and beamed ceiling. Also visible are numerous travelers seated throughout the terminal, some reading, some chatting, all either waiting for their train or possibly for loved ones to arrive. A kiosk is nestled in the far left side of the terminal, and a clock on the wall reads 2:55. Located at 800 N. Alameda Street, Union Station was designed by the father and son team of John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson, and opened in May 1939. In 1980 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, Building #80000811it is also a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. Photo dated: March 2000.
