Description
Photograph of Sonoma and the Mission Solano, ca.1865(?). A picket fence stands in the foreground enclosing a flat clearing, behind which the mission and houses of Sonoma are visible. The mission stands at center, two stories tall, a bell tower extending from its roof. Three tall stain-glass windows are visible along its broad side. A long adobe building stands to the left of the mission, showing its broad side as well. The one- to two-story craftsman-style buildings of the town are visible along a dirt road to the right, extending towards the foreground in front of the mission. Hills and mountains are visible in the background. A tall flagpole can be seen in the clearing.
