Description
James Vaughn studies a reading primer with tutor Florence Peetz at the San Gabriel Library, a branch of County of Los Angeles Public Library, where he enrolled four weeks ago in a program called "Illiterates Anonymous." When Vaughn was a schoolboy, teachers decided that he was "dumb" and never taught him to read. Photo dated: April 7, 1985.
