Description
A marching band and drill team in military uniforms led by a man with a baton is the focus of this 1927 photograph. K Street was a popular parade route and the stretch between Seventh and Tenth is the one traveled here. Onlookers line the street, many of them resting against the automobiles parked there. Business signs clearly identify the Clunie Hotel (805 K Street), Florsheim's Shoes (809 K Street), Hale Brothers Department Store (825 K Street), Purnell Stationery Company (915 K Street), Sequoia Theatre (909 K Street), and Chinn-Beretta Optical Company (901 K Street). The Sequoia Theatre only played Paramount films; ""Drums of the Desert"" was released in New York in September of 1927 and would have made its way to Sacramento screens a month or two later.
